Radon mitigation meets technology

At a recent mitigation system installation I was pleased to find radon mitigation piping pre-installed under the slab.  Unfortunately, the pipe was in an inconvenient location of the basement.  Installing a new mitigation pipe was problematic due to the presence of radiant heat pipes in the basement floor.  To the naked eye, it is impossible to determine where radiant heat pipes are located, and therefore locating new mitigation pipes is risky (and I won't do it).  This problem is solved using a thermal imaging device to map out the radiant heat pipes.  In the pictures below I'll show how this was accomplished.  The end result was a successful mitigation system installation which provided the homeowner more usable space in the basement.

The original mitigation pipe and location of radiant floor heat pipes are seen in this image using our thermal imaging unit.

We marked the location of the heat pipes, safely installed a new mitigation pipe, and sealed the original, mis-placed, mitigation pipe.
